Introducing the Tecnam P2012 Traveler

Updated: Jan 6, 2023

There is no doubt when it comes to styling the Italians do a pretty good job... think Ferrari, Lamborghini, Prada, Gucci and of cause Tecnam - Italy's leading aircraft designer and manufacturer.

Following a recent visit from Hallmarc Aviation, the Australian distributor for Tecnam Aircraft, Lake Mac Airlines would like to introduce you to the Tecnam P2012 Traveler - Tecnam's latest styling masterpiece and newest addition to their aircraft line up.

As late as September, the P2012 was not on the list of potential aircraft for Lake Mac Airlines as the standard "Traveler" version is payload limited when operating from the short 780m runway at Marks Point, however this changed in October when Tecnam announced a Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) version of this stylish, comfortable and sleek aircraft meaning that this more powerful version can lift a full load out of Lake Macquarie Airport.

The P2012 visited Lake Macquarie in the first week of November specifically to showcase this new aircraft to Lake Mac Airlines as a potential option to fly the Lake Macquarie to Sydney route and we were very impressed by what we saw.

The P2012 is a twin engine high wing commuter airliner fitted out with the latest aviation in technology including a full glass cockpit, weather radar, anti icing equipment and fuel management technology. On top of this the P2012 offers a classy passenger experience with seating for 9 passengers on comfortable leather seats, air conditioning, over shoulder inertia seat belts and even the option for USB charging ports for each passenger.

When compared to the Cessna Caravan both aircraft are similar when it comes to operating cost, available payload and speed, but the Tecnam P2012 does hold an edge over the big Cessna when it comes to cabin finishes and passenger experience.

Lake Mac Airlines is yet to make a final decision on what aircraft we operate on the Lake Macquarie to Sydney route but having inspected the Tecnam P2012 and Cessna Caravan we know our passengers will love the comfort and convenience both these aircraft offer.
